Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

The ten things people ask most often before they try ManyHands — what we are, how Manny works, how pricing works, and how we keep your money and data safe.

  • What is ManyHands?

ManyHands is a secure AI platform that helps everyday people get things done online.

Starting in South Africa, ManyHands gives each user a private cloud space, secure virtual cards for payments, and access to a verified local business directory. Together, these let an AI agent safely browse, compare, book, order and pay on your behalf.

It is not a marketplace, a directory or another delivery app. ManyHands is the infrastructure that lets your AI agent work across the whole commerce ecosystem — from local businesses to online stores, service providers and everyday digital tasks.

Inside ManyHands, you speak to an AI agent called Manny. You can ask Manny for things like groceries, a plumber, a gift, a restaurant booking, a price comparison or help with everyday admin. Manny then uses the internet and the tools inside ManyHands to get it done for you, in your language, on WhatsApp or the web.

  • Who is Manny?

Manny is the AI agent inside ManyHands — your personal assistant for everything you’d normally do across a dozen apps and tabs. Manny can search and compare, browse websites, fill out forms, remember your preferences, book services, place orders, and even pay for them on your behalf.

You can talk to Manny on WhatsApp, SMS, or the ManyHands web app — in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, and more. The more you chat, the more Manny learns about how you like things done.

  • How is ManyHands different from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini?

ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are chatbots. They give you words — answers, drafts, summaries. They don’t actually do anything out in the real world. They don’t buy you milk, book your plumber, re-order your prescription, or wait on hold for you.

Manny is an agent, not a chatbot. It connects to the apps and businesses you use every day, follows tasks through to completion, and brings back results — receipts, bookings, deliveries, decisions. It also lives where you already chat (WhatsApp), knows your preferences and history, and is built for South Africa specifically — local businesses, local payments, local languages.

  • How is ManyHands different to Takealot, Amazon, Uber Eats or Checkers Sixty60?

Takealot, Amazon, Uber Eats and Checkers Sixty60 are built to keep you shopping inside their world.

ManyHands is built to work across all of them — and beyond them.

Instead of opening five apps, comparing prices yourself, checking delivery fees, reading reviews, searching for discount codes and hoping you made the right choice, you tell your AI agent what you need. It goes and does the work for you.

ManyHands is not trying to become another marketplace. We think people already have enough apps trying to capture their attention, shape their choices and push them to buy more.

    Our job is different.

ManyHands helps you buy better, not buy blindly.

It can compare options across big platforms, local businesses, direct suppliers and the open internet. It can find the better price, the better deal, the closer option, the business with stronger reviews, or the choice that actually suits your life — not the choice a marketplace wants to promote.

And because ManyHands is not a store, we do not need to trap you inside one catalogue. We do not need to make every result look like a “deal”. We do not need you scrolling endlessly. We do not win when you waste more time buying things you did not need.

We win when your agent gets the right thing done for you.

That might mean ordering from Checkers Sixty60. It might mean finding the same item cheaper on Takealot. It might mean buying direct from a local business. It might mean not buying at all because Manny found a better option.

    That is the point.

  • How does Manny actually work?

You tell Manny what you want right in WhatsApp — in plain language, like you’d ask a friend. Manny figures out what you mean, breaks it into steps, and goes off to handle it: checking trusted suppliers, comparing prices, filling carts, placing orders, confirming bookings, or escalating to a human if something looks off.

Behind the scenes, every Manny account runs in its own private, isolated environment so your conversations, preferences, and history don’t mix with anyone else’s. Manny remembers what matters (your size, your usual brands, your address, your dietary needs) so you don’t have to re-explain it every time.

  • Why is buying through ManyHands safer than buying online yourself?

Three reasons. First, Manny only buys from a curated list of 100,000+ verified businesses and institutions — every one of them vetted by our team for legitimacy, reliability, and safety. If a business falls short, it comes off the list.

Second, Manny never uses your real card to check out. Every user gets a dedicated virtual card used exclusively for agent purchases (see the credit-card question below).

Third, every purchase Manny makes on your behalf is covered by up to R25,000 in BuyProtect. If something doesn’t arrive, isn’t as described, or goes wrong through no fault of your own, you’re covered. And our human specialists are on-call 24/7 if you ever need to talk to a real person.

  • How do you keep my credit card safe?

ManyHands protects your card using bank-grade payment security. We never see or store your full card number. When you add a payment method, your card details are handled by a certified payment provider using secure infrastructure trusted across the banking and payments industry.

Your card is tokenised, which means ManyHands only receives a secure reference to your payment method — not your actual card details. And when Manny buys something for you, it does not use your real bank card directly.

Every user gets a dedicated virtual card for agent transactions. That means Manny can shop, book or pay on your behalf without exposing your personal card details to the businesses it buys from.

If a virtual card is ever compromised, we can shut it off and issue a new one. Your real bank card stays securely stored and untouched. Manny uses a secure payment layer built for safe, controlled buying on your behalf.

  • How much does ManyHands cost?

    There are three plans:

    • MannyGo — pay-as-you-go. Done-for-you everyday tasks, internet browsing and research. Access Manny on WhatsApp, SMS and the ManyHands web app, with one-click checkout, up to 10 done-for-you tasks at a time, unlimited memory and a 5GB private cloud server. Great for trying Manny out and using it for the basics.
    • MannyPlus — R395 / month. Full buy-for-you shopping and booking with buy protection. Everything in MannyGo plus 3× the daily browsing limit, 20 done-for-you tasks, 5 buy-for-you agent purchases or bookings a month, and up to R10,000 of BuyProtect cover.
    • MannyMax — R795 / month. The maximum capability, protection and human support. Everything in MannyPlus plus 10× the daily browsing limit, 50 done-for-you tasks, 15 buy-for-you agent purchases or bookings a month, up to R25,000 of BuyProtect cover, and on-demand access to our human specialists.

Every new user starts with a 10-day free trial. After that the first month is R10, so you can really test it before committing.

  • How does pay-as-you-go work?

MannyGo is our pay-as-you-go plan — there’s no monthly subscription. You get Manny on WhatsApp, SMS, and the ManyHands web app, one-click checkout (ready-to-buy carts you tap to confirm), unlimited memory of your preferences and history, a 5GB private cloud server, and up to 10 concurrent done-for-you tasks at a time.

Browsing and research come with sensible daily limits so the cost stays predictable. When you ask for something that needs paid capabilities — full buy-for-you (where Manny completes the purchase or booking itself), BuyProtect cover, on-demand human support, or more concurrent tasks and higher browsing limits — Manny will tell you up front what it would cost on MannyPlus or MannyMax, and let you decide whether to upgrade.

  • What is BuyProtect?

BuyProtect is the cover that comes with every purchase Manny completes on your behalf. If something Manny bought for you doesn’t arrive, isn’t as described, or goes wrong through no fault of your own, you’re covered up to your plan’s BuyProtect limit.

    Cover scales with your plan:

    • MannyPlus — up to R10,000 per agent purchase.
    • MannyMax — up to R25,000 per agent purchase.

BuyProtect applies to full buy-for-you transactions — the ones where Manny actually completes the purchase or booking itself, not the ready-to-buy carts you tap to confirm yourself. You don’t need to file a claim or chase a merchant: if something goes wrong, message Manny or our human specialists and we’ll handle it.

  • How does the waitlist work?

While we’re rolling out, we’re inviting new users in batches so we can keep the quality high. When you share your phone number on the home page or at /get-started, you’ll either be invited straight in or added to the waitlist with a position.

If you’re on the waitlist, you can still chat with Manny on WhatsApp in “guest mode” in the meantime — Manny can answer questions, explain pricing, and help you understand what it can do for you. You just can’t ask it to run tasks for you yet.

The waitlist is a queue, not a lottery — when it’s your turn, you’re in.

  • Is my data private — and do you sell it?

No. ManyHands does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. Our business model is subscriptions — not your information. We don’t mine your data to build profiles. We don’t use your browsing to target ads.

Every Manny account runs in its own private, encrypted environment. Your conversations, files, and history are visible only to you (and to the people you explicitly choose to share with). You can update, restrict, or revoke that access at any time. When you close your account your data is deleted — beyond the bits we’re legally required to retain under South African law.

More detail lives on the Security and Privacy pages.
